The Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Nombor Cukai Pendapatan is an income tax number used by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) to keep track of income tax.
When was the Tax Identification Number implemented?
The Tax Identification Number (TIN) officially takes effect from 1 January 2022.
How do you get a Tax Identification Number?
Citizens and permanent residents above the age of 18 will automatically be allocated a tax identification number from the LHDN.
Do you need a TIN if you already have an Income Tax Number?
Taxpayers with an existing income tax number before or on 1 January 2022 do not need to apply for a TIN, as the income tax number will be used as the TIN for the respective taxpayer.
